Ensure employees have right to claim unfair dismissal from day one of employment
The two-year rule in UK employment law states that employees need to have worked for an organisation for two years before unfair dismissal can be claimed in employment tribunal. This rule is to give employers a period to assess a new employees suitability before potential unfair dismissal claims.
With this being considered, this timeframe can be misused and seen as a way to unjustly terminate employees contracts without true and factual reasons, sometimes using unprofessional and illegal means to manoeuvre employees out of the business to avoid the 2 year protected employment right. This petition is the ensure that an employee has full employment rights for unfair dismissal with immediate effect of day one of their employment in order to create an equal working legislation for all.
