Bring Back Goverment-Built Social Housing
The UK is facing a housing crisis. Millions of us are priced out of affordable homes. The current system is not working.
Call on the UK Government to directly build social housing, as it did successfully in the 60s
In the 1960s, the government built over 425,000 in a single year. Today, that ambition has shrunk to 5,732.
This isn't just a social issue, it's an economic one. High housing costs suppresses consumer spending and drive up public spending.
We call on the government to:
• Empower local councils with funding and authority to build homes directly.
Let's stop outsourcing responsibly. Let's start building again, at scale, with purpose and with the public sector leading the way!
