Hold MPs accountable for distinguishing fact from opinion in public discourse.
1. Introduce legislation requiring MPs to clearly identify between opinions and facts in all their public communications.
2. Establish a new offence of "Misleading the Public" to hold MPs accountable for spreading false or misleading information.
The current lack of transparency and accountability in public discourse is eroding trust in our institutions and creating division in our society. MPs presenting opinions as facts or spreading misinformation:
- Misinforms the public and their decisions
- Undermines the credibility of our institutions
- Fosters a culture of distrust and polarization
