Petition Action

Improve the Lobbying Bill by allowing MPs to debate but not vote on issues they have been lobbied on by professional lobbyists.

Additional Information

There is a professional lobbying system in place to encourage the desired vote in support of corporations and other bodies. Large organisations can employ an army of lobbyists to speak to a large number of MPs, while small charities and individuals may only afford to speak to one or two.

• MPs who are lobbied should not be prevented from debating issues on which they have been lobbied, but should not be allowed to vote on those issues.
