Hold Governments accountable to their election promises
We want Parliament to create a mechanism for mid-term accountability so Governments and MPs must honor election promises. Other countries allow recall votes or binding referendums. The UK should adopt similar measures to restore trust and prevent broken pledges.
Voters currently have no recourse if parties fail to deliver on election promises during a five-year term. We want a system of accountability, such as recall or mid-term review, to ensure pledges are honored as presented and understood. Other democracies (e.g. USA, Canada, Switzerland) allow recalls or binding referendums — the UK should adopt similar measures to restore trust and prevent broken promises.
