Make it a legal requirement to report when a cat is hit by a vehicle
Current law requires drivers to stop and report collisions with dogs, horses, cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, and donkeys, but not cats.
We want the law changed so that cats are included in this list, ensuring that injured cats receive help and their owners are informed.
Thousands of cats are killed or injured on UK roads each year, and many are left to die alone because drivers are not legally required to stop.
Cats are beloved family members to millions of households.
Providing them with the same legal protection as dogs would prevent unnecessary suffering and offer owners closure, while promoting responsible and compassionate driving.
