Stop Divisive Rhetoric Against Patriotic Citizens
It unfairly vilifies ordinary people and fuels an atmosphere where violence against them can be excused or encouraged. Patriotism is not extremism. Branding law-abiding citizens as “fascists,” “racists” or “far right” does not reduce radicalism, it risks inciting it.
Publicly condemn the use of such rhetoric.
Affirm that patriotism is not extremism.
Hold public figures and institutions accountable when they use language that vilifies ordinary citizens.
Words have consequences. The Government must act to prevent this rhetoric from endangering people and dividing communities.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly how you'd like the Government to condemn the use of certain language and how you'd like people to be held accountable.
