Petition Action

Review settlement routes for long-term adult residents in UK since childhood

Petition Details

Review the settlement and citizenship pathway for those born or raised in the UK from childhood. We believe many fall outside current routes due to law changes. The review should consider adding a new pathway resembling the Windrush scheme, giving rights to live, work, and contribute.

Additional Information

We believe some people born or brought to the UK as children, who have lived here ever since, are not granted residency as adults through no fault of their own. Denied the right to work, study, or rent, they may face precarious situations, risking crime, exploitation, dependency, or poor mental health. Many fall outside current routes due to law changes and risk losing the right to remain.
