Petition Action

Include Guidance on Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) in NHS Women’s care.

Petition Details

Update NICE guidelines to include EDC exposure as a modifiable risk factor. Introduce mandatory training for GPs, midwives, and obstetricians. Support Community Health Workers to provide culturally sensitive advice to at-risk communities.

Additional Information

EDCs in everyday products are linked to infertility, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and pregnancy complications. Black women are disproportionately exposed and nearly 4x more likely to die during pregnancy. NHS guidance is silent on this preventable health risk, leaving women and babies unprotected. Early intervention can prevent harm, reduce health inequalities and close racial health gaps. This supports ongoing parliamentary inquiries into reproductive health reform.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things that the UK Government or Parliament are directly responsible for, so we cannot accept petitions about NICE guidelines or NHS guidance.

We could accept a petition about EDCs if it calls for an action which is within the direct responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament, such as providing funding for training.
