Let one unit of alcohol be tallied to one imperial pint of ale!
Taking ale to mean beer, cider or lager, of reasonable strength, let's say 5%, I submit that by tethering the nominal measurement of an alcoholic unit to the glass and contents favoured by the majority of drinkers, the current, flawed, system of tracking consumption would be rendered suddenly-intelligible to the public, with profound health benefits bound to follow.
If people don't understand alcoholic units when sober, which they don't, what are their chances after a few down the hatch?
