Introduce need for ID for social media accounts
We would like to lobby the Government to introduce legislation - or included in the digital ID proposed legislation- to make it mandatory for social media platforms to request the need for ID for new & existing social media account.
We are asking the government to introduce social media accounts to be linked to ID due to:
Prevent abusers utilising fake accounts to message & harass vulnerable groups including children.
Reduce the amount of trolling and hate speech by individuals who think they can absolve responsibility by hiding behind fake social media accounts
Ensure that with social media, that freedom of speech is correctly linked to consequences of action.
