Petition Action

Change the black out law for the football

Petition Details

The black outlaw was introduced in the 1960s to encourage people to watch the lower league teams play. It’s now 2025 and I feel we should be able to watch the Premier League without having a blackout if anyone’s interested in the lower league teams they will watch it anyway

Additional Information

I would like to try and scrap the black outlaw in that was introduced in the 1960s to encourage people the lower league teams. I feel like if anyone was gonna watch them, they would do it. I think this law should be scrapped now it’s 2025. Lots of things have changed.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about when to hold and broadcast football matches are a matter for the FA, the Premier League and the Football League, and broadcasters, not the Government or House of Commons.
