All petitions on this site that reach over 1,000,000 must be put to a referendum
A bill should be passed whereby any petition on the official parliament.uk website that reaches 1,000,000 signatures must be put to a referendum for the nation to decide to help our country become more democratic.
There have been too many petitions signed by millions on this site over the last few years that have simply been ignored by politicians outside of a response that they have no interest in fulfilling our requests. To blatantly deny the will of the nation, especially on matters not listed in the ruling party's manifesto, is simply undemocratic. This would take a big step towards making governance more inline with the real will of the people.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
We think this petition is very similar to yours:
Hold referendum if a petition reaches over 650,000 signatures: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/743620
