Petition Action

Make the housing laws like Scotland, once an offer is accepted they complete

Petition Details

Make it so the sellers need to provide an upfront survey and valuation details but once an offer has been accepted then the buyers need to go through to completion. This will cut down people planning on wasting time and buyers who ghost without anything coming back to them.

Additional Information

This would cut out a lot of people with the housing market and make sure people want to buy the house they are bidding on. They should be financially tied into to exchange contracts once the price has been agreed.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

You may wish to sign this petition, which calls for the same action: "Amend the home buying process in England to align with Scotland" petition.parliament.uk/petitions/739512
