Include British Citizens Studying Medicine Abroad in NHS Training Prioritisation

Petition Details

The Government should work to ensure the inclusion of British citizens who studied medicine abroad in NHS specialty training prioritisation, regardless of graduation date, so they are not treated the same as overseas applicants without UK ties.

Additional Information

Some families have funded medical education abroad, expecting their children to return and serve in the NHS. Current proposals prioritise UK graduates and those GMC registered before March 2025, and we are concerned this may exclude British citizens still studying abroad. UK citizenship should be recognised in these proposals to ensure fairness, while strengthening the NHS with graduates whose training cost the UK nothing.
