Petition Action

Review punishment of Child Sex Offences

Petition Details

Review sentencing to ensure penalties reflect the severity and long-term harm of child sexual abuse. Offenders convicted of child sexual offences must serve their full terms in Category B prisons or higher. There should also be mandatory lifetime registration and electronic monitoring.

Additional Information

We call on MPs to act with integrity and courage. We believe silence and inaction in the face of injustice betray our nation’s moral duty. A report estimates that 1 in 10 children suffer abuse before turning 16, that is over 3 pupils per classroom. We feel victims’ suffering is overlooked by those in power and tolerated in the interest of budgeting. This must not stand. Protecting children is not negotiable.
