Call for Scrutiny of the Collapse of the China Espionage Trial
Provide a full explanation to Parliament regarding the collapse of the recent high-profile espionage trial involving alleged Chinese state interference. Sudden discontinuation of the case raises questions about the UK's ability to safeguard national security.
Government must set out:
- Why the trial was dropped and on whose advice.
- Whether national security considerations were compromised.
- How the Government plans to protect the UK from hostile state influence in future.
Transparency is essential to maintain public trust in our institutions. Parliament must scrutinise the circumstances surrounding the trial's collapse and the wider implications for UK-China relations and domestic security.
