Urge the UK government to press Nigeria to condemn killings of Christians
Violent attacks on Christians in Nigeria have surged, killing thousands and destroying homes, churches, and villages. This violates Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948, which protects freedom of religion. Over 7,000 Christians have been killed since 2025 for their faith
The UK has a moral duty to defend human rights. Under Article 8 of the African Charter, freedom of religion must be protected. The Government must act to support Nigerian Christians by:
Urging Nigeria to protect Christian and vulnerable communities
Supporting justice for victims
Providing aid to displaced families
Promoting peace and religious freedom with global partners
Over 4 years 56,000 lives were taken due to religious beliefs. UK government has an obligation to provide support.
