Ensure UK Digital ID Remains Voluntary and Fully Transparent
We ask the Government to guarantee that any Digital ID system remains voluntary, with non-digital alternatives for essential services, and that no rollout occurs without full public consultation and a free vote of Parliament.
Digital ID was not clearly presented in the 2024 election, yet new rules are making it effectively mandatory. This risks eroding privacy, consent, and public trust. Parliament must ensure transparency, open debate, and legal safeguards so citizens retain genuine choice and control over their personal identity data. We value innovation, but technology must serve people—not replace democratic consent or restrict access to work, housing, or public services.
