Larger banks should have to provide more accessible branches and cash machines .
Government should require major banks to provide cash machines and counter services within walking distance of people in major cities and towns. One possible solution would be for banks to pool their resources and open up jointly-run community hubs.
Many High Street branches as well as cash machines have closed down, and even the facility of paying in cheques via the post office is being closed down.
Not everyone can use online services. Many older people, individuals with limited mobility, those in rural areas with poor internet, or people facing financial hardship are better served by in-person counter services, likewise complex forms, sensitive matters, internet outages or unexpected situations needing creative or nuanced treatment.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We are not sure which banks this would apply to and how frequent these branches should be.
Banking hubs are already being rolled out: www.gov.uk/government/news/chancellor-opens-100th-banking-hub-in-time-for-christmas
