Strengthen Hate Crime Laws for Disabled People & Recognise Their Vulnerability

Petition Details

Disabled people can face high levels of hate crime causing serious physical and emotional harm. We urge the UK Government to strengthen hate crime laws, introduce tougher sentencing, fund improved police and CPS training, and fund increased support for disabled victims as they are more vulnerable.

Additional Information

Strengthen protection for disabled people in hate crime law; recognise disabled individuals are already more vulnerable; introduce tougher sentencing; ensure mandatory training for police, prosecutors, and judges; guarantee consistency and transparency in investigations and prosecutions; and increase funding for victim support services, including accessible counselling, advocacy, and safeguarding for disabled victims of hate crime.
