Pay NHS staff for the full 40 hours we spend responsible for patients each week.
NHS staff spend 40 hours a week away from family, yet part of this time is unpaid even when we continue caring for patients during breaks. We want the Government to ensure staff are paid for any break time where duties continue, with proper recording of interruptions.
Working through unpaid breaks causes fatigue and impacts patient safety. Paying for this time reflects the reality of our work and supports staff through rising living costs. It would improve fairness, wellbeing and retention across the NHS.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
If you are being made to work through your breaks, we suggest you complain to your NHS Trust.
