Strengthen UK border controls and immigration checks to improve safety
The Government should review and tighten border controls and immigration enforcement. This should include more enhanced screening of arrivals and improved cooperation between border and law-enforcement agencies to protect public safety and maintain secure borders.
There is increasing public concern about border security. Reports of organised crime, trafficking and unlawful entry have raised questions about the effectiveness of current screening and enforcement. Strengthening checks and improving cooperation between agencies would help protect communities, uphold the integrity of the immigration system and restore public confidence in the UK’s borders.
