London’s mayor affects us all—so let the whole UK vote.
Change the law so that the Mayor of London is elected by national ballot. London’s decisions affect the whole country, so the whole country should have a say. This would reflect the capital’s national significance and ensure broader democratic accountability.
London is the seat of power—home to Parliament, the monarchy, and major institutions. Its mayor influences national policy, spending, and global representation. Yet only Londoners vote. This creates imbalance and fuels resentment. A national vote would restore fairness, reflect reality, and give all citizens a voice in who leads the capital.
