Petition Action

Make it law for schools to keep exact word-for-word records of meetings

Petition Details

Amend the Education (Pupil Information) Regulations 2005 so that, when a parent or pupil requests it, schools must make a word-for-word record or audio recording of any formal meeting and keep it on the school’s record.

Additional Information

Schools can currently rewrite or summarise minutes of key meetings, leaving parents without an accurate record of what was said. Keeping word-for-word records would ensure fairness, transparency and accountability, and protect both children and schools from dispute or misrepresentation.
