Re-introduce national service for 16 to 18 year olds
I would propose that when children reach school leaving age that they should have to elect to either go into further education or be made to do two years national service whether this be in the armed forces or in one of the emergency services. I believe that particularly in light of the august riots that young people need to learn social responsibility and I also believe that this would teach them a sense of community and also give them a sense of purpose in their lives.
