Petition Action

Make work pay fairly: lower taxes for workers and reform benefits for fairness

Petition Details

Hardworking people are penalised by high taxes while many who could work get more on benefits. At the same time, illegal immigration increases pressure on housing and services. The Government must make work pay and put fairness for taxpayers first.

Additional Information

The Government should reduce taxes for working people, reform the benefits system so work always pays more than welfare, and take stronger action to stop illegal immigration that adds pressure to public services. Taxpayers deserve fairness, lower costs, and a system that rewards contribution, not dependency.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We do not know which taxes you are referring to, how much you would like them lowered by, or what specific reforms to the benefit system you would like made.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
