8 week benefit transition period for working people in supported accommodation

Petition Details

We want the Government to allow people living in Supported (Exempt) Accommodation to work for up to 8 weeks without losing any Housing Benefit entitlement or supported housing placement. This would support recovery, stability, and move-on into independent living.

Additional Information

People in Supported (Exempt) Accommodation are often recovering from homelessness, trauma, addiction or mental health crisis. Employment can be a key part of recovery, offering routine, confidence and independence. However, increasing work hours can lead to reduced Housing Benefit and risk of losing accommodation. An 8-week protected work period would allow residents to begin full-time employment safely and support a stable move into independent living.
