Review laws preventing under 18s from access to online sexual content
We ask the Government to review laws that prevent under 18s from accessing sexual content online. We want the review to look into focusing instead on improving and implementing mandatory sex and relationships education for all students.
We believe restricting access to online pornography for teenagers is disproportionate given that people can consent to sex at 16. We feel restrictions such as the Online Safety Act push young people into using VPNs to avoid restrictions, potentially exposing them to more harmful content. We believe arguments porn is bad for teenagers due to misogynistic values fail to account through the prevalence of these values throughout all media. Unrealistic expectations of sex could be more effectively countered by proper sex ed in schools.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
