Introduce mandatory health checks for girls at risk of 'Holiday FGM'
Introduce mandatory health checks of girls at risk of FGM
Department of Health
Female genital mutilation (FGM) or 'cutting' is the removal of external female genitalia for non-medical cultural reasons.
Girls can be taken to their countries of origin during the summer holidays so FGM can be carried out, so they can 'heal' before returning to school in September,
Up to 23,000 girls are at risk of this inhumane torture in England and Wales.
We must introduce mandatory health checks of girls under fifteen years old at risk of this cruelty.
