Petition Action

Retain the civil right of jury by peers

Petition Details

Protect citizens’ rights and uphold the 800-year-old safeguard of trial by a jury of one’s peers.

Additional Information

David Lammy is currently advancing legislation that would remove the civil right to be tried by a jury of our peers in all but the most extreme cases.

The right to lawful judgment by our peers has been a cornerstone of our justice system since Magna Carta. If this goes through, over 800 years of precedent will be overturned and this protection will be denied to citizens.
