The English people deserve a patron saint to be proud of and no other person is best equipped for this job than the "greatest ever Englishman" (described by Winston Churchill) King Alfred The Great.
This man did more for the English nation and her people than any other in our history. He is still popular and a hero amongst us centuries after his death.
