Petition Action

Allow Mobile Gamers to Disable Pop-Up Offers

Petition Details

Make it a legal requirement for all mobile games available in the UK to include a setting that disables pop-up offers and purchase prompts.

Additional Information

We think this change would empower players, curb what we feel is predatory monetisation, and set a global standard for ethical gaming.

Why we think this matters:
• Design: Constant pop-ups interrupt gameplay and can use pressure tactics that can lead to impulsive spending.
• Consumer protection: These practices may target vulnerable users, including children, and could undermine informed choice.
• Mental well-being: Reducing intrusive prompts can promote healthier gaming habits and a more enjoyable experience.
