Enquiries into breaking of election manifesto pledges

Additional Information

Tribunal enquiries to be automatically opened when political parties are found to have broken pledges stated in their election manifesto.
The results of these enquiries should be publicised, and if deemed necessary, those MPs responsible for breaking election pledges ought to be tried for perjury or some similar charge.

The breaking of manifesto pledges by the political parties, has led to widespread disillusionment and disengagement with current political parties.
It is likely that if the consequences for lying on the national political stage were shown to be greater, members of the public would their MPs would be more accountable to them, re-engaging them with the political system.
