Petition Action

Repeal the two child benefit cap to start April 2026.

Petition Details

Repeal the two child benefit cap to start April 2026.and replace with tax allowance.

Additional Information

To replace with a tax allowance per child. This will encourage families to work and contribute to society, plus lifting the restriction of 16 hours cap within the child tax credit element of the benefit etc and not penalise families. It will set a good example to children that to work is rewarding. Therefore by doing this, will remove them from the stigma of being on benefits and will lift many children from child poverty.
Anyone who remains on benefits will keep the two child cap.
