Reintroduce the JobStart scheme instead of reintroducing 2+ child benefits

Petition Details

Instead of reintroducing child benefit for unlimited numbers of children in a family, use the money to fund an ambitious scheme to get young people into work by meeting half their wage costs.

Additional Information

The JobStart scheme paid employers half the wages of young people to get them into work. Such a scheme is desperately needed now, as employers hesitate to recruit in the current climate and young people need to be in work for both personal and societal well being.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Jobstart scheme which you refer to seems to only have been available in Northern Ireland.

There is already a petition open on keeping the two-child benefit cap which you may wish to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/752621
