Repeal the The Bread and Flour (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2024

Petition Details

The Bread and Flour (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2024 will require flour millers to fortify non-wholemeal wheat flour with folic acid.
The people who have signed this petition demand that this act is repealed, or at the very least a referendum is held so the public may choose for themselves.

Additional Information

According to the gov.uk announcement in November 2024, the intention is to prevent 200 cases of debilitating brain and spine defects in babies every year.
This represents less than 0.03 percent of the number of babies born each year and would rely upon the pregnant mother's of those babies affected eating non-wholemeal bread as part of their regular diet.
Removing all choice from the entire UK population who choose to eat non-wholemeal wheat products is utterly ridiculous and a draconian move.
