Ban Bottom Trawling in all UK waters
Bottom trawling is a destructive way of fishing. It contributes to global warming and damages the ecosystems of marine life. This needs to be stopped as soon as possible to save what we have left of the oceans.
Bottom trawling is destructive because it devastates marine ecosystems by dragging heavy nets along the ocean bed. This destroys habitats like the coral reefs and the seagrass beds. This results in a high amount of carbon being released in the air. Bottom trawling is terrifyingly indiscriminate; it destroys everything in its path. This also contributes to over-fishing. Coral has many important uses, they act as natural barriers against storms and is a home to 25% of marine life.
