Create a New Independent Skilled Worker Visa Route
This proposal recommends the creation of a new Independent Skilled Worker Visa (ISWV) that allows qualified foreign nationals to work in the UK without being tied to a sponsoring employer.
The purpose of this visa is to:
Address skill shortages more effectively
Reduce worker exploitation linked to employer-dependent visas
Enable non-citizens to contribute productively to the UK economy
Maintain clear safeguards to protect public resources and immigration control
