Clear non-numeric labelling for Halal meat
I am requesting the Government introduce requirements for clear, non-numeric labelling on halal-certified products, including meat and processed foods. Supermarkets and suppliers rely on numeric identifiers to indicate slaughter methods/certification. These are not understood by the average consumer
Use clear, front-of-label symbols or plain wording to indicate whether a product is Halal or non-Halal, so that consumers can make fully informed and confident decisions about the products they purchase, whether for personal, ethical, or religious reasons. Ensure consistent labelling standards across all food agencies and retailers to guarantee full transparency and fairness for every consumer.
