Petition Action

Require all schools to provide adaptive sports equipment for disabled pupils

Petition Details

Establish a statutory requirement for all schools to provide adaptive sports equipment, including a sports wheelchair, to ensure equal access to physical education for all disabled pupils and to promote inclusive physical education.

Additional Information

1. According to ParalympicsGB, only one in four disabled people in the UK regularly participate in PE and school sport.
2. According to some reports, disabled children make up nearly 20% of the school population in England.
3. Some reports found that the lack of inclusive PE provision and adaptive equipment in schools is repeatedly identified as a major barrier preventing disabled pupils from participating in physical activity.
