Petition Action

Introduce a Kannada language GCSE

Petition Details

Kannada is a language spoken by millions in Karnataka, southern state of India. There are Kannada speaking skilled workers in UK and other parts of the world. We request Government to recognise support and encourage Kannada language learning in schools, by creating a Kannada GCSE.

Additional Information

Kannada is the administrative language of Karnataka, a southern state in India with population of approximately 70 million. It has rich tradition and history. The earliest records of the script date back to 6th century, making it one of the ancient languages. It is the native language of around 40 million people. There are Kannada speaking families in UK and around the world. Introducing Kannada as one of the foreign languages in schools could help global communication and future generations.
