Petition Action

Make it illegal for DVLA to share vehicle keeper data with private companies

Petition Details

Make it illegal for the DVLA to share driver and keeper data with private companies. Drivers should not have their personal information released without consent, especially for use by private parking firms. DVLA data should only be provided to public authorities.

Additional Information

The Government should stop the DVLA from releasing driver and keeper data to private companies because we feel motorists have no control or consent over how their personal information is used. Private parking firms rely on this data to issue charges we think are unfair and excessive. A public authority should protect personal data, not share it. Only official bodies such as police or councils should have access for legitimate legal reasons.
