Require prosecution of individuals who knowingly make false criminal allegations

Petition Details

We call on the UK Government to require police and CPS to prosecute individuals who intentionally make false allegations, including false claims of domestic abuse, rape, sexual assault. We ask for mandatory automatic referral to CPS, and penalties that reflect the seriousness of the harm caused.

Additional Information

False allegations destroy innocent lives. They create real victims — people who are investigated, judged, and sometimes lose their children, homes, employment, mental health and reputation, despite having done nothing wrong.
Knowingly making a false criminal allegation is not a minor mistake. It is a deliberate act that can devastate families, damage children, and consume huge amounts of police and social-care resources. these cases are rarely investigated or prosecuted
