Save lives by bringing Summer Time forward to End Feb

This would benefit the whole of the UK.

At end of Feb, central belt of Scotland has a 6pm sunset. Add an hour, and the majority will be travelling home in the light.

The benefits would include:

1. Reductions in road fatalities and serious injuries.
2. CO2 emissions reduced
3. Happier people (less S.A.D.). Increased natural Vit D production. Increased exposure of body's light sensors.
4. More opportunities for family time, sports, leisure and gardening to improve people’s wellbeing and health.
5. Reduced energy bills
6. Increased tourist income by £3bn per year.
7. Sharing same time zone as many European countries.


The trial should start in 2016 when British Summertime (GMT +1hr) will be observed from the last weekend in February. This will SHORTEN WINTER psychologically.

This can pave the way to a discussion about British Summertime (GMT +1hr) lasting through the winter.
