Demand Professional Standards in Parliament
We, the undersigned, demand that MPs uphold workplace standards of professionalism.
In 2025, it is unacceptable for elected representatives to heckle, jeer, shout “Shame!” or wave papers like pantomime performers. In any other workplace, this behaviour would go to HR.
Such conduct undermines trust, trivialises debate, and turns Parliament into a circus instead of the heart of democracy. We call for reforms to enforce respect, civility, and serious discussion in the Commons.
Politics is not theatre. It is governance. MPs must stop the performance and do the job we elected them to do.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament as a whole aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Order in the Commons is the responsibility of the Speaker personally.
