Urge Nigerian Government to better protect its Christian population
We call on the UK Government to use diplomatic and economic leverage to press Nigeria to protect its Christian population from systematic persecution and violence. As one of Nigeria's major trading partners, the UK can advocate for the safety of Nigerian Christians who are facing ongoing attacks.
Thousands of Nigerian Christians are killed annually in systematic attacks by Boko Haram, ISWAP, & armed militias. As a major trading partner (£6.6b bilateral trade), we have leverage to demand action. Current diplomatic efforts are insufficient. We need trade & aid conditioned on protecting religious minorities, a special envoy appointed, and sustained high-level pressure. Nigeria's stability affects the entire West African region. "seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice" Isaiah 1:17
