Petition Action

Fund high-quality, non-partisan political and citizenship teaching resources

Petition Details

Youth Parliament UK urges the Government to invest in high-quality, non-partisan lesson resources that any teacher can use. It’s vital students are taught the skills for informed and active participation in society, but too often teachers don’t have the support, leaving students without consistency.

Additional Information

This would help teachers feel more confident delivering these topics and ensure that lessons on democracy, government, citizens’ rights and responsibilities, media literacy, and more, are taught to a high and impartial standard in all secondary schools across the UK. With the proposal to lower the voting age, and in an age of AI and algorithms, it is essential we make high-quality, non-biased political and citizenship education a right, not a lottery.
