STOP basing student loans on parental income
The cost of living whilst at university is sky high, with very little help from the government. Young 'adults' depending on their parents to support them through university is ludicrous. A basic example: student loan (£3600)... student accommodation (£5500) straight away, said student is £1900 short without a basic food/living allowance.
A loan should be a loan. Based on the individuals needs, rather than parental income.
There are many other issues which need altering too; in regards to how the loan is calculated.
No consideration for how many other children at home.
Financial status of home.
