Petition Action

Introduce a Governor-level national representative for stability.

Petition Details

The UK currently relies heavily on the PM for national direction.

A national representative could help maintain stability and continuity when leadership changes or crises occur, providing long-term oversight and support for key priorities

Additional Information

A national representative with long-term responsibility would help stabilise leadership during times of political pressure or change. This role could provide continuity, strategic oversight, and consistent direction when the Prime Minister is dealing with crises or transitions. Creating a governor-level representative would help ensure long-term priorities stay on track and improve overall stability in UK governance.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We are not sure what you mean by "governor-level" or "national representative", what their powers would be versus those of the Prime Minister, how they would be appointed, or how this role would fit with the role of the Monarch as Head of State.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
